K. Brandon Strenge, M.D.
As a fellowship trained orthopaedic spine surgeon, K. Brandon Strenge, M.D. specializes in minimally invasive spinal surgery and motion preserving procedures for the treatment of both cervical and lumbar spine disorders. He has been focused exclusively on treating patients with spinal problems since 2008.
His approach to treating patients focuses on reducing pain, improving function, and restoring quality of life. In order to accomplish these goals, patients are first treated with every available non-operative treatment option. While the vast majority of his patients get better without surgery, those who do not are treated with the latest minimally invasive surgical procedures available today.
Dr. Strenge began his pre-medical training at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL where he graduated cum laude with university honors while obtaining degrees in Zoology, Chemistry, and Psychology. He then attended Southern Illinois University in Springfield, IL where he completed both his medical degree and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery.
His fellowship in Spinal Surgery was completed at the Spine Institute in Santa Monica, CA under the supervision of three world-renowned spine surgeons, Drs. Rick Delamarter, Michael Kropf, and Hyun Bae. While training with these pioneers in the field of spinal surgery, he gained extensive experience with motion preserving artificial disc replacements, minimally invasive microsurgical procedures, as well as the newest spinal reconstructive techniques.
Throughout his training, Dr. Strenge has participated in numerous research investigations. Previous projects have explored serum titanium levels after instrumented lumbar spinal fusions, soft tissue edema associated with the use of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP), and the clinical and radiographic outcomes of hybrid artificial disc replacement and fusion constructs in both the cervical and lumbar spine. Currently, he is participating in ongoing research trials involving the latest minimally invasive fusion techniques performed through a minimally invasive lateral approach.
Dr. Strenge is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), the North American Spine Society (NASS), and the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association (MAOA). He also is a member of the Society of Lateral Access Surgery (SOLAS).
Dr. Strenge lives in Paducah, KY with his wife Jessica and their two children, Madeline and Henry. When not working, he is an avid bass and crappie fisherman, but also enjoys hunting, exercising, watching sports, and most importantly, spending time with his family.
