From the moment you schedule your initial appointment, improving your quality of life is our priority! Our goal is to provide comprehensive therapy services to improve your movement and function and eliminate pain. We achieve this by employing individualized evidence-based exercise and treatment techniques customized to meet your therapy goals. Plans are developed by well-trained, experienced licensed and specialty certified physical and occupational therapists and athletic trainers, including an APTA Board certified orthopaedic clinical specialist, and a certified hand therapist.
Our approach to healing makes us unique in providing therapy and rehabilitation. We treat injuries utilizing the sports medicine model, which has been shown to facilitate a speedy return to activity. We have seen injured clients returning to work, sports or daily activities more quickly because of rapid rehabilitation and recovery. Our advanced knowledge of biomechanics, and the most recent surgical advancements and rehabilitation protocols, allow us to tailor your therapy program to optimize your therapy outcome. Pamela Hunter, PT, MS, OCS
Pamm is a native of Southern Illinois. She graduated from Texas Women’s University in 1986 with a B.S. in Physical Therapy, and graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1990 with a M.S. in Biomechanics . She received her orthopaedic clinical specialist certification from the American Physical Therapy Association in 2009. She is a certified Graston practitioner, certified Kinesiotaping Practitioner, Matheson Trained Functional Capacity Evaluator, and Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Fitness Instructor. Her continuing education and professional experience focuses on orthopaedic and musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation, and gait evaluation. Pamm has been with The Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois as the co-founder of the Therapy department since 2001. She currently serves as the Manager of Therapy Services. Pamm enjoys working with all orthopaedic conditions, and strives to help you optimize your functional performance.
Rick Vicenzi, A.T.,C.
Rick is a native of Anna, Illinois. He graduated in 1988 with a B.S. in Athletic Training from Southern Illinois University. He has worked in the outpatient clinical setting since 1988, with a focus on sports medicine and served to coordinate sports medicine services at local area high schools. Rick has been with The Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois as the co-founder of the Therapy department since 2001, where he currently serves as Coordinator of Sports Medicine. He has been specially trained in the Matheson Return to Work program, Sportsmetrics certification program, and in kinesiotaping methods. He provides sports medicine services directly to athletes at Anna-Jonesboro High School, Cobden High School, Goreville High School, and Shawnee Community College. He serves as the Coordinator of Sports Medicine services for OISI, providing sports medicine to Southern Illinois University, John A. Logan College, Rend Lake College, Southern Illinois Miners, and Murphysboro High School and also serves on the Illinois High School Association Sports Medicine Advisory Board. Rick enjoys working with work related injuries along with sports medicine injuries. He has a specialty interest in baseball/softball throwing injuries.
Eric Osman, MPT, A.T.,C.
Eric is a native of Anna, Illinois. Eric graduated from Northwestern University with a Master’s of Physical Therapy degree in 1998. He has an undergraduate degree in Athletic Training from Southern Illinois University. Since graduating in 1987, Eric has primarily worked in outpatient orthopaedic settings. He has continued his education completing a Master’s of Health Administration from Governors State University in 2004. Areas of special interest include work related injury rehabilitation; including being a Matheson trained Functional Capacity Evaluator. Eric has been employed at The Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois since 2007 where he treats a variety of patient populations. His experience includes a variety of orthopedic injuries, including post surgical and general musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation.
Kim Peters, MS, O.T.,R, CHT
Kim is originally from St. Louis, Missouri and has been living in Southern Illinois since she graduated from college in 1998. She completed her undergraduate studies at Maryville University with a major in Biology, and continued with her education at Washington University in St. Louis and graduated in 1997 with a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy. She began practicing locally in occupational therapy in 1998 and joined The Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois in 2004. After further extensive specialized studies, she became a certified Hand Therapist in 2004, and is currently an active member of the American Society of Hand Therapists. She focuses her practice on upper extremity injuries and custom fabrication of dynamic and static orthoplast splints. She is certified as a Graston Practitioner to use the Graston Soft Tissue Mobilization Technique. Kim looks forward to helping individuals achieve their maximal functional skills to get them back to their everyday life.
Dane Elliott, MPT, A.T.,C.
Dane is a native of Marion, Illinois and a graduate of Southern Illinois University. He obtained his B.S. in Physical Education with an Athletic Training Specialization in 1998, and A.S in physical therapist assistant in 2000. He joined The Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois in 2004, and simultaneously returned to school to obtain his Master’s of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Findlay in 2008. As a practicing physical therapist, Dane enjoys working with all orthopedic conditions and strives to ensure your functional goals are met, whether it is return to work, sport or a normal daily routine.
Laura Estes, MPT
Laura Estes graduated in 2002 with a Master’s of Physical Therapy from the University of South Alabama. After receiving her degree, Laura worked in central Illinois in a variety of settings including outpatient, acute care, and home health. Laura returned to Southern Illinois working primarily in the outpatient therapy setting, focusing on aquatic therapy, and in 2007, joined the therapy staff at The Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois. Laura specializes in the rehabilitation process of a variety of orthopaedic injuries, including post surgical and general musculoskeletal injuries.
