John B. Wood, M.D.
John B. Wood, MD earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and his medical degree summa cum laude from the St. Louis University School of Medicine in Missouri. He continued his training with an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Wood served as the Chief of Orthopedic Services for the 77th Medical Group, McClellan AFB in Sacramento, California from 1992 to 1995.
Board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Wood also holds a subspecialty certificate in Sports Medicine. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and maintains privileges at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Herrin Hospital, and Heartland Regional Medical Center. He currently is a team physician for the SIU Salukis and volunteers in the health service at SIU.
